Ship is a little tired looking and breakfast and lunch were not the greatest in my opinionRECOMMENDED
No<div>From the start, sailing out of New York was absolutely the greatest. Passing by the Statue of Liberty as it was lit up was really special. <br /> This itinerary is great with Bar Harbor and all of the Canadian ports as well. I have a hard time saying which was my favorite because it was all great. We were lucky with weather as well. </div>

YesI thought that the tub/shower arrangement was very unsatisfactory. There was nothing to hang on to if you happened to slip. And the tub was most difficult to exit. I am quite agile so I felt for anyone who wasn't. I understand that some of the penthouse suites had just a shower. That would have been much better.

One glitch with an excursion.RECOMMENDED
YesAll staff are very accommodating and friendly. Housekeepng staff called us by name from the moment we met them and throughout the trip, even when we weren't in the immediate area of our suite. Excursion glitch: When we arrived at our horseback ride excursion, we were told that Mexican law prohibited people older than 70 from participating. Regent personnel said they were not aware of this requirement. The itinerary was changed slightly (we did not go to Manzanillo and San Diego was added at the end) to avoid Hurricane Rosyln, a wise choice on the part of Regent, which didn't affect the enjoyment of our cruise.

No<div>The ship was very clean and well maintained. The itinerary had a good selection of ports and Hubbard Glacier. The naturalist onboard was interesting as well as the lecturers. There was a good mix of new and experienced crew and staff onboard. They made each guest feel welcome. The activities onboard were very good at engaging guests. Food was excellent with a wide variety of choices. The two specialty restaurants were well received with a good selection of choices on the menu. The entertainment onboard needs more variety, as it was geared to a more mature crowd. The spa was very well received and good variety of service. The shops onboard need more selections, but this could be due to the end of the Alaska season.</div>

YesThe staff aboard the Mariner was exceptional in every facet. Every crew member was courteous and willing to give whatever effort necessary to ensure that every client onboard would have the maximum enjoyment from their vacation investment. The housekeeping staff was awesome to state it mildly. I have never been treated with such professionalism and pride in their jobs. I would like to thank the Regent organization for putting together the mechanics of the experience which made every passenger onboard happy and proud to have had such an experience!

Italian restaurant and Prime 7 were just OkRECOMMENDED
YesThe ship is what made the cruise, given that one port was cancelled (too windy for tenders), and that many, many excursions had to be cancelled due to an “atmospheric river” of rain. The service onboard was exemplary . The cabins functioned beautifully. Chartreuse was the best restaurant by far, simply divine. Entertainment is mediocre. The girls are wonderful but the guys are weak. That being said, it was still fun. I’d take this ship to other locations, but I don’t think I’d repeat Alaska, as you have no idea what kind of trip you will have since the weather is unknowable in advance. The first comment our friends would say is that they missed the Incline railway and the seaplane, which were actually the two things we were most looking forward to. All cancelled. Another example - the ship in the time slot before us couldn’t see Hubbard Glacier due to the fog. We were lucky, but the ship right after us had the fog closing in again. It’s a lot if $$ to spend for a bunch of maybes. I would have liked to give 4and a half starts.

No<div>I think this is a winner. It's a beautiful ship. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is excellent. AND for an itinerary where people really want to do great shore excursions (which really adds up) ---they are all included. AND they are good ones ! Every single shore excursion we chose was terrific and always seemed to have a $150-$200 per person value. They were top notch. All spirits, wine, sodas ----all included. AND you are offered excellent known brands. (They also try to remember what you drink !) Food selection is wonderful. Two specialty restaurants to make reservations for----no additional charge-----plus the "Lido" type restaurant turns into an Italian themed restaurant by night. You order off of the menu and are served......but you go to help yourself to the Salad and Dessert Buffet Selections. Entertainment is excellent. Lecturers are terrific. The fussiest people will find much to love about Regent. AND here is the big eye-opener. After two years of Covid and lots of cancelled sailings.......we spoke to a BUNCH of people who already have 5 or 6 Cruises BOOKED. It was amazing. There is obviously a pent up demand. AND Regent makes them HAPPY.</div>

Entertainment (singers) on boardRECOMMENDED
YesWe had a wonderful time on our cruise aboard the Mariner from Miami to Lima in November of 2019. We were last on the ship in February of 2018 before it went into dry-dock for refurbishment, and the ship is beautiful. the staterooms are spacious, the beds are incredibly comfortable, both the shower and closet are spacious and the food on board was exceptional. The one area where I think Regent can improve is with the singers that are on-board. Featured entertainment was great, including an Irish comedian, a broadway actress/singer and the cast of the main shows. The lounge singers, however, left a little to be desired. As for the itinerary, we missed our 1st port of call in Jamaica due to a technical issue the ship was having with one of their Azipods. We visited Curacao and Aruba in the Caribbean and enjoyed both of our catamaran excursions and got to do some amazing snorkeling, including one over a sunken ship from World War II. We then went to Columbia, and while our visit to Cartegena was nice, the stop at Santa Marta was our least favorite port on the itinerary. There wasn't a lot to see and do there, and many guests on board were complaining about their excursions in Santa Marta. We then visited two places in Equador (Manta & Guayaquill) and enjoyed them both. We then went to Trujillo, Peru before ending our cruise in Lima. We thoroughly enjoyed both days we spent exploring Lima and the many attractions it has to offer. I always enjoy my time an any Regent ship, and this cruise was certainly no exception. I always recommend Regent to everyone, as it truly is a wonderful luxury cruise experience.

nothing except the weather. It was a great cruise.RECOMMENDED
No<div>When I first walked on the ship I thought "how beautiful and friendly. The mariner made me fell welcome by its size alone. It was like walking into a friends home and I knew I would be comfortable and find my way around easily. It was not that "overwhelming" feeling you sometimes get. Our cabin was the deluxe suite C2. It was a wonderful cabin! Great size closet and the waterfall shower heads was a marvelous touch. We were pleased with our cabins. The food wherever I ate was amazing! The breakfast buffet in La Veranda was clean and plentiful. You could choose from pre-made eggs and sausage to ordering eggs benedict or omelets delivered to your table. The Compass Rose dining room had open seating for all 3 meals and was a wonderful experience. We never had to wait for seating. The waiters, beverage servers and everyone was very friendly, pleasant and service oriented. After diner every evening they brought a tray of petite deserts to have while you waited for desert! The specialty restaurants were excellent. We tried all 3 and it was a pleasant break from the main ding, but quite honestly, it's hard to beat the food in the Compass Rose main dining room. I was not real excited about the entertainment on this ship. It was bad, it just wasn't as good as some. It was just "ok". Our itinerary was disrupted by the weather so we missed Sitka and Hubbard Glacier so that was disappointing but weather can happen. The disembarking with Regent was very smooth and fast.</div>

YesAs always fantastic staff throughout the trip. We did comment while on board about dining in the Verandah/Sette Mari which was frequently chaotic. For breakfast and lunch they now have tables in the walkways at the side which are poor spots to sit at and very congested. This was never a problem before and there are no more passengers so what happened? In the future we will avoid suites under the pool deck. You can hear all the furniture being moved around. One morning that was at 6-45am - I did go up and complain and reported that at reception. Otherwise classic Regent!

YesAs first time cruisers (and after reading all about cruising in general) we had high hopes for our Regent experience, but this went above and beyond our expectations. Suites were so much bigger, better, and well equipped than I expected - including 4 power outlets! We loved spending early mornings and late evenings on our private balcony. The staff was always gracious and accommodating. The food was delicious and ever-changing. The excursions were well-executed - and interesting glimpses into four very different ports. We were lucky that our weather was exceptional, but even so, I have to imagine a rainy day just would have given us a chance to explore the boat and ongoing activities even more. We never thought we'd enjoy a cruise - now we can't wait to plan our next one. With REGENT, of course!

No<div>A very wonderful cruise from the moment we stepped on board. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating . The food is delightful . Good idea to sign up online for the different restaurants as soon as possible . No extra charge. Our weather was good enough to sit outside for breakfast or lunch at La Veranda restaurant . At night, we had dinner some nights in the Italian restaurant, Sette Mari, where you only need to show up in time to secure a table. Fun food and great Italian waiters. The lectures are excellent on this ship and well worth going to. We had Patricia Kramer from the Smithsonian Institution lecturing on all things Alaska. Additionally, we listened to Martin Smith and Marcela Gaviria from Frontline on the Middle East situation. We also had the questions and answers with California retired Senator, Barbara Boxer. Many of the shore excursions are included in the cost of the cruise, so it is also a good idea to select your favorites early. We enjoyed several excellent excursions. My favorite was in Astoria, Oregon to Fort Clatsop and the Lewis and Clark expedition site. We enjoyed walking around on our own in Ketchikan after an expertly guided Rainforest expedition, walking tour. It had rained 11 inches the day before we got there , and we were there on the first sunny day in many weeks. We had a great viewing of the salmon run in the river through town. The river was swollen, so it was difficult for the salmon.</div> <div>A lot of excitement was created by the ship coming quite close to the Hubbard Glacier on a beautiful, sunny day. </div> <div>Back to the ship and the excellent Cruise Director, Paul Reynolds who managed the entertainment schedule . Marla offered a gathering in the evenings for single travelers, so no need to be alone. Our favorite hangout was the Observation Lounge on Deck 12 in the pre-dinner hour. </div>

YesRegent never fails to provide quality service. Staff have more class than some passengers. When it says no jeans at dinner and here comes some passenger walking to his table wearing less than proper attire, it can put a damper on expectations. If you want Carnival Cruise Line atmosphere, then go for it! With Regent, do yourself a favor and dress appropriately. Again, not a big deal but Regent puts forth a great effort. So should you!

Had white paint on my feet all week from putting them on balcony railings. Must have been painted the day we left port but it never dried...have photos of painted feet to remember this trip!RECOMMENDED
YesI was very surprised that the cabin stewards never came by to introduce themselves or ask us what we needed (usually what type of alcohol). We never saw them the entire trip, unlike previous cruises . Most disappointing part of trip as they are usually so ready to help and I enjoy talking with them. Being the first trip to Havana Regent did a good job, only negative was being on a wait list for excursion and never being notified when space became available. We managed to wander to the desk at the right time and procured two cars ??. If we weren't there we would not have gotten them. Mariner cabins are tired looking, glad it's being refurbished soon. Would benefit from another day in Havana, skip Mexico port and cruise another day or two. I am looking forward to September cruise on the Explorer!

YesThe " Voyage Memories" DVD is an amateurish assembly of, largely, the evening floor shows, with a very poor sound track, and a few shots of several visited downtown areas. There is no coverage of the ship's dining rooms and cuisine, bars, library, suites, the observation deck, swimming pool, hot tubs, athletic facilities, or shore excursions, The DVD's quality falls woefully below the high standards of all other aspects of our cruise experience with Regent.

I saw several less able guests who had trouble with the gangway. While there are sturdy handrails the length of the gangway at the bottom it yields to a less than sturdy rope rail. They should always keep a person at the bottom and at the top who can offer strong assistance.RECOMMENDED
No<div>The itinerary was a wonderful Mediterranean sampling that included Italy, Monaco, France, Spain and Portugal. A special treat for many long time RSSC cruisers was a first time port call at Rock of Gibraltar. It is almost impossible to think that this ship was built in 2001. She looks fresh and elegant. All suite, all balcony and so much public space that it's difficult to believe that she is sold out as always. We received good food, great service, no waiting, good attitudes and smiling faces. There's not much more to wish for. The guests are a wide range of ages and guests all seemed to enjoy themselves. I did not see any growling, scowling people at the Purser's desk.</div>

YesMariner offers a truly first class cruise experience for singles and couples traveling alone as well as families exploring the world together. The wide variety of 'free' tours is enough to keep 95% of cruisers happy. The food quality is as good as any afloat in either of the dining rooms. We really enjoyed dining outdoors every evening (with good weather). PH 830 has a pole next to the bed so you need to be smaller in size on the right side of the bed. PH are very spacious. Internet package was competitively priced and service was good onboard. The evening entertainment was sufficient although lacking much in the way of dancing. Poolside was great with plenty of shade. We loved that there policy was little to no onboard announcements or trying to sell you photos as you left the ship at each dock - great feeling of not being 'marketed to' while on vacation although they had a well informed cruise consultant to help with future cruise bookings. Lorraine, the Cruise Director is brilliant!

No<div>The ship has been beautifully refurbished. It is a very comfortable ship with lovely appointments. The ship is the perfect size, large enough for variety in dining and entertainment, while not overwhelming or too large for smaller ports of call. The food in all the restaurants was excellent. The fact that the evening dress code is "Elegant Casual" makes packing and dressing for dinner much simpler, particularly on a port intensive cruise such as this. Most of the included tours were excellent, though sometimes difficult to hear the guides. They would have been better if headsets were provided.</div>

NoI am such a big fan of Regent Seven Seas! I love the ship, the food is outstanding and my husband relaxed for the first time in a few years! My group was about 54 guests, we had a lot of fun with them. Starting with the cocktail party we all made new friends and I had some questions from several guests but had helped with the resolve of any issue they had. We shared cocktails, dinners, lunches and even breakfasts with the Signature guests. The ship is well maintained and the crew is amazing! I had remembered several of the wait staff from my June cruise, and all were very welcoming. Lots of families and multi- generations on the double holiday voyage. Good to see children having fun on board. The Captain is very approachable and charming as only an Italian Captain can be, the food and beverage director was fantastic as were his crew. We were rained out of 2 Tahitian islands as it is wet season in December, but it was great to relax on board. The cuisine was exceptional, my favorite restaurant is Signatures with a French influence, but Prime 7 was a close runner up! The buffet up top on the 11th deck by day, turns into a lovely Al fresco restaurant in the evenings and has an Italian cuisine, very casual but very elegant. The shows in the showroom featured a Cirque Du Soleil type of act, I wasn't a fan as the gymnast was EXTREMELY thin, so hard to watch, and once you saw the act once, the next time you saw it, it was the same act to a different song. On New years eve they did a James Bond theme in the show room with a martini tasting fun in the audience. The islands were great, my favorite was Champagne Beach in Vanuatu, it was perfect! The perfect powder sugar sand, the clear blue water with the perfect temperature and a sand bottom, it was heaven! New Zealand was my 2nd favorite in the Bay of Islands we had a great kayaking trip to a waterfall, free time after to enjoy the adorable town! In Fiji it was lovely, hubby Jake became the chief in Suva! another great place for waterfall fans like us! Overall I would do this trip over and over again it was awesome!

Shore excursions were mediocre and seemed somewhat limited.RECOMMENDED
NoThe ship itself looks great - the recent renovation has left the common areas feeling new and very chic, but still comfortable. Our stateroom was very clean and felt like that of a new ship. The storage space was wonderful. We were especially impressed by the food onboard and were thrilled to be able to provide a galley tour to our group with Chef Kelly Cochrane. Every meal or snack we had was excellent and we enjoyed delicious meals in all three specialty restaurants. The only thing that we found better than the food was the service. The staff on board, from the captain to the room stewards, were friendly, anxious to help, and eager to bring you whatever you wanted. In particular, we enjoyed Maria and Zennifer, who waited nights in the Italian restraunt, and Ashley, who was head of security and always welcomed us by name when we left or returned to the ship. Every show we saw was professional and very entertaining. We heard many, many people onboard (include a casting director) who felt as if the shows and performers were Broadway quality. We did not use the spa, but heard great things from friends who did. The gym was perfect for the size and clientele on the ship - it just would have been better if it opened at 6 AM, instead of 7 AM as this made it difficult to workout with 8 AM shore excursions. The only thing we felt was not really up to par was the shore excursion offerings. I understand that the clientele on this ship might like half-day excursions so that they can return to the ship for lunch, which is fine. It would have been nice to have been able to participate in two excursions on some days. In addition, we found that the time allowed to do/see anything in a 3-4 hour excursion was not really sufficient and felt rushed. However, most of the guides we had were very knowledgeable and easy to understand. Finally, the staff assigned to work with our group was second to none. They were willing to do anything and everything to help us ensure that our group received some extra care. This ship's staff would serve as a great training model for exceptional service onboard a cruise ship.

YesThe ship was GREAT! The pre & post cruise hotels not so much. Be sure to discuss them before booking. Pre-cruise hotel was located on a barrier island instead of the mainland of Venice. Having to wait on water taxi's really limited our ability to see and explore Venice. Other passengers on the same cruise were located on the mainland of Venice. I don't understand... The post cruise hotel was a five star hotel but lacked warmth & comfort. The Palazzo Montemartini was very contemporary, cold, & utilitarian. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would recommend it to others.

No<div>The ship looks really wonderful. Great attention to detail was put into decor and lighting of public spaces. The Mariner Lounge looks both cozy and elegant and was a favorite. The Observation Lounge looks beautiful but misses a little on the comfort level. Both specialty restaurants remain in high demand and still get great reviews. Sette Mari (which is La Veranda, transformed at night to an Italian restaurant) has gained in popularity and was often full. Suites have had a facelift and the verandah furniture is cushy and comfortable. The pool area is still in the process of a facelift and is going to be beautiful. My cruise on June 29 had 3 ports canceled, 2 due to weather too choppy to tender and one due to a strike in Marseille. Regent made the cancelation late in the evening for Port Vendres so upon arrival in the alternate port of Sete the next day, there were no excursions but guests were able to go ashore. Marseille was canceled for the following day so Regent was able to put together excursions from Sete to appease the guests. The 3rd cancelation was the following day in Saint Tropez so Villefranche-Sur-Mer was quickly substituted. All in all a good recovery. Some grumbles but I think most were satisfied that Regent had made incredible efforts to salvage the situation.</div>

After leaving the Amazon (very very interesting), we also stopped in Barbados, St. Barths and San Juan, P. R., on the way to final destination, Miami. While the ship is due to go into drydock in April 2014, it did not seem worn at all, except maybe needing new carpets in some areas! It's a lovely ship holding about 700 passengers, with plenty of outdoor space, including all balconies in the suites. Favorite features were all-inclusive pricing, very nice guest launderettes, very friendly and accommodating staff, super cruise directors, terrific food. The included tours are very high quality, with over-the-top tours extra cost. The included wine and spirits very good quality - name brands, and unstinting quantities.
