Seabourn Odyssey was built by the Italian company T. Mariotti S.p.A., located in Genoa, Italy and named in Venice. On that occasion, the guests on board for the maiden voyage were all honored as the ship's godparents, and a plaque with their names was permanently mounted on a wall inside the ship. Seabourn Odyssey was designed by the same architectural team, Petr Yran and Bjorn Storbraaten, who designed the original Seabourn ships. Each day on board offers delicious dining options, world-class entertainment and enriching activities.

mediocre food and unexciting entertainment, lecturesRECOMMENDED
NoWe are very experienced travelers and were frequent Crystal passengers. This didn't even come close. We expected more from such a top cruise ship. The main restaurant was a frequent disappointment. We must, however, say we enjoyed the Thomas Keller restaurant, and the Earth and Ocean restaurant was a true standout; much better than the main restaurant. The sushi pre-dinner in the "Club" was also much appreciated.

The embarkation and disembarkation.RECOMMENDED
YesWe were scheduled to embark at the same time as two monster multi-passenger ships and were required to stand in a hot line for an hour and a half to clear customs and passport control. The infirm were required to endure the same ordeal. Then, when we arrived at Juneau, it was raining sideways. Our shore excursion was cancelled (as it should have been) but we were dumped out on the dock with no Seabourn personnel to direct us. We ultimately found our way to the bus, drenched, but our luggage was dropped off at the wrong hotel. Luckily, I had equipped it with Appel AirTags so I was able to locate it.

This much fun is not inexpensiveRECOMMENDED
YesWe thoroughly enjoyed our 14 days about the Seabourn Odyssey as we traveled from Vancouver BC to S.E. Alaska via the inside passage and back. This itinerary was just great. Each port had something to offer. The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking and abundant. The entertainment was excellent. We particularly loved the addition of the Venture team onboard which consisted of a number of very experienced and knowledgeable guides with experience and training in geology, sailing, wildlife, etc. They all gave lectures aboard and also guided the venture trips via zodiac or kayak and each was just outstanding. It added immensely to our experience. We feel as if we saw Alaska in a much different way that would have otherwise been he case. Seabourn is not inexpensive, but this is a prime example of getting what you pay for. They go out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect. The staff and crew could not be better, friendlier or more attentive. We were most fortunate to have great weather on most of our trip, as well as smooth seas. We have taken several cruises. This one is certainly one of our most enjoyable.

Small Luxury Ship, Outstanding Service, Fabulous Dining With Spacious CabinsCONS
You Cannot Stay On Board ForeverRECOMMENDED
NoFrom the moment we stepped on board, the positive energy and welcoming atmosphere was greatly noticeable. Every staff member greeted us with smiles and a desire to help in any way. The ship is beautifully appointed and decorated, without feeling fussy. Cabins are spacious including a large sitting area with couch, chairs and useable table; walk in closet, double sinks-full tub and separate shower in the bathroom. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, SO comfy after a full day of sightseeing. Each evening a show with very talented "house" singers and dancers was always anticipated & enjoyed. Dining options are endless with each venue offering many possibilities, fabulous presentation and tastes. Seabourn has it all!

Cabin designCONS
Uneven serviceRECOMMENDED
YesWe loved that the cabin design included enough storage space for all our things to be neatly tucked away, and we did not need to pile things on every available surface. The drapes between the bed and the sitting area allowed my husband to 'sleep in' while I got up and enjoyed the sunrise. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great. I enjoyed several spa treatments and each staff member was friendly and provided great service. We also loved the Seabourn Square on seven as a great place to grab coffee and read a magazine. The food and service on the patio, in the Colonnade, and the main Restaurant ranged from excellent to really quite bad. As we could not always find seating available with our favorite servers, we were exposed to quite a few staff. The biggest complaint was the inability to get cream served with our coffee - even when we ordered both at the same time, it would take repeated requests before the cream would arrive, and of course the coffee is cold by then. We learned to stop by the coffee bar on seven and take it with us up to the Colonnade for our breakfast. In the main dining room, when sitting with larger tables, the courses were often served in the wrong sequence (main course before soup?) or we received each other's plates. Simple things that should not have been a problem on this less than full sailing!

No<div>Let’s start with the ports and excursions first. There was a wide array of activities offered by Seabourn. We kayaked in Primosten, which was definitely a must do! After a short 30 minute bus ride from the port we arrived at our starting point somewhere in the Croatian countryside. We doubled on into kayaks and paddled around the entire UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trogir. It was a very unique way to explore this site without intruding on it. In Dubrovnik we opted for the mountain bike tour. As we tendered into port I wasn’t quite sure of our decision, the port is lined with very steep hills and crowded switchback roads. Lucky for us, the biking happened in a nearby valley. We rode past old churches, vast gardens and vineyards. We even hiked a bit to discover waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing taste of pure spring water. It was magical, though we definitely worked up a sweat here. We opted not to do any excursions in Corfu, but explored on foot and found a beautiful local neighborhood with a great restaurant to people watch. We did some shopping and had a nice leisurely day. Nydri was one of my favorites! We went ashore with our own snorkel equipment in search for the perfect beach. As we were walking through the port we found a little place that rented bicycles for the day (only EURO 4 for the whole day) and made our way along the coastline. We found some great beaches for snorkeling and enjoyed a great meal on our way back to the ship. In Katakolon (Olympia) we opted to hire a private car for the day to take us around. Of course we went up to Olympia to see the ruins and the museum, but from there we took the scenic route through the mountains and visited a small monastery with stunning views of the island. It was absolutely magnificent! Once back in port we found a beautiful little restaurant by the ocean and sampled the local goods like Ouzo, Tzatziki and the likes. YUM! Next up was Monemvasia which offers stunning beaches. We snorkeled and tanned, had a relaxing lunch and finally walked up to the old fortress town. It’s a [place you definitely have to explore when visiting. It’s beautiful! Unfortunately we didn’t have time to explore Athens, but had to fly out that same day. The ship itself is stunning, and it was one of the few times I really missed having a sea day. There are multiple pools on board, many bars, 4 restaurants, various lounges, a huge spa and gym, a casino and the theatre. We tried to explore all areas, but a week is just not long enough to enjoy everything the ship has to offer. The food was amazing at all restaurants, but Restaurant 2 was by far the best! I highly recommend making dinner reservations for all nights as soon as you come on board. At times it was challenging to get a table reservation for the dining time we wanted, especially since we didn’t eat alone most nights. The crew was amazing! Outstanding service with a big smile at all times, no matter what the request. All crew members made us feel right at home and we had so much fun getting to know all of them. I can’t wait to go back and see them all again!</div>
