Introduced in 2014, the award-winning AmaSonata sings her melodious tune down Europe's great rivers. Most accommodations have twin balconies, so you can enjoy the ever-changing scenery however you wish, along with amenities like Entertainment on Demand, high-speed Internet access and English-language TV stations. A soft color palette in each stateroom calms the mind for relaxation, but when you're ready to get active, head to the fitness center or up to the Sun Deck to the heated pool. Crisp white tablecloths and napkins grace the tables in the subdued Main Dining Room, while The Chef's Table specialty restaurant highlights its 5-star multi-course cuisine with gold-hued tones and a twinkling overhead centerpiece. With a stunning Main Lounge, tranquil library, sundeck walking track, massage and hair salon, and gift shop, you will never find a dull moment and will sing AmaSonata's praises while sailing on board.

Small size and staff:guest ratio makes for intimate serviceCONS
Cabin placement relative to engine noiseRECOMMENDED
YesLovely trip. Ship is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and service is outstanding. This trip I was on the second deck, well toward the stern, compared to the third deck on my previous cruises. I did note more engine noise and vibration but it wasn't an issue. Actually, it was pretty soothing. And there was no noticeable noise from the deck above. My only issue is, as a solo traveler, waivers and extras are hit and miss, even for a repeat customer. My travel advisor was able to pursue an upgrade but still, there were several empty cabins on this sailing so the line was a little stingy as far as I'm concerned.

Tiny swimming pool on top deck. Some tour guides were a lot better than othersRECOMMENDED
YesMy wife and I are retired and in our late 60's and we had a great week long river cruise on the Danube. The ship is small enough to become quickly acquainted with staff and other passengers. there was a nice assortment of daily activities to be as busy as you wanted to be or just sit back and relax. They tried to accommodate all levels of physical activity from gentle walkers, to hikers and bikers. All 3 meals each day had a good selection of items with new daily specials. We enjoyed the food and staff. The entertainment after dinner was good but not great. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable. Overall a great experience.

Loved the small group of 156 people on board the ship. Loved the fact that 90 of those people were on the pre 3 day excursion in Prague, so we met many people that were on our cruise before we started. Loved that the Cruise director spent the 3 days in prague with us. Loved everything about the cruiseCONS

YesThis was an unbelievable 10 days trip. Yes we had to change itinerary a bit due to low water on the Danube, but the changes made by the cruise director were great . Tough job to change itinerary on such short notice and still make the excursions perfect. We probably will never go back to a large ship again after doing this cruise. It's very personable. You get to know pretty much every staff member on the ship on a personal basis. Ama was a great company to do the cruise with also and we probably will not even try one of the others when this was already so great. Dejan was such a great cruise director. We would love to do another cruise with him. We already put down a deposit for our next cruise with Ama.

Not a lot of on board activities.RECOMMENDED
YesThis was our second cruise on AMA and will look forward to booking another one in a year. The ship was very comfortable, staff was great. The tours were informative and fun. Great that the tours had different levels of walking. I was babying a bad knee and the gentle walkers was just what I needed. If I had a complaint, it would be that I thought the food was to salty for my taste. The presentation of the food was spot on.

Sonja, Cruise Manager was excellent. Most excursions were excellent.CONS
Radisson Blue hotel in Lucerne was terrible! Need to find a new one.RECOMMENDED
YesAmaWaterways was very accommodating to all passengers fitness abilities. All excursions had tour guides for active walkers, regular, and slower walkers with no steps. Plus hiking tours and bicycling tours, very impressive. Everything was very well done. My only complaint would be they had no mint to make Mojitos, the only thing I drink! Also as everywhere, they have every kind of coffee for folks but make little effort for tea drinkers. I prefer Chia Lattes which I could make with their machines but they do not offer Chia tea bags!

Wished we had more small towns as stops on the cruiseRECOMMENDED
YesHad a great cruise. The two (2) weeks went by very fast. The three (3) days in Zurich and two (2) days in Lucerne were great. Switzerland is a beautiful country. As my brother who works for the US Government says it is "Gods" country.

Flower viewing was at the endRECOMMENDED
No<div>We spent Easter 2015 aboard the AmaSonata on a Tulip Time cruise. This itinerary is very busy with 2 or more stops per day. Be sure to see Kinderdik windmills; Keukenhof gardens from Amsterdam; take the canal cruise as well as an evening Amsterdam canal cruise, if possible. Explore the little towns and take time to enjoy the atmosphere, have a beverage and let the charm of these villages surround you while you relax. </div> <div> </div> <div>Bruges, Belguim was beautiful, but very crowded and a long distance from the port towns - well worth the trip but do know you will encounter lots of other tourists. Meals in this town take forever on a busy day so consider a casual meal and allowing more time to explore.</div> <div> </div> <div>The tour guides were amazing - Ama provides wonderful options to select in the many quaint, ancient towns. These guides tell the fun stories of these countries and take you back in time!</div> <div> </div> <div>The staff on board is outstanding. They want to get you everything you want and more. They learn your preferences and greet you daily with enthusiasm and true caring. The owners of this company show how much they want to please each and every passenger and their warmth and thoughtfulness is carried out by the fabulous people on board each ship.</div> <div> </div> <div>Consider taking this itinerary the 2nd or 3rd week of April. The weather may be more consistent and the flower fields should be hitting the peak of the season.</div>

YesAmazing cruise, best ship on the river. Everything exceeded our expectations!! Every meal was a 5 star experience. The wines were all excellent and from local vineyards. Staff excellent and went out of there way to make everything perfect! I don't think there can be a better river cruise than with AmaWaterways. Their ships are far superior to other lines we saw during the cruise.
