SHIP OVERVIEW

The daughter of Kjárr of Valland, Alruna (Ölrún in Old Norse), was one of three Valkyries spinning linen on the shore of Wolf Lake, when they were spotted by three brothers who lived nearby. Alruna and Egil, one of the brothers, lived together for seven winters, until Alruna flew off to battle, never to return.

Overall, this was a great cruise. I personally didn't love some of the places we went. But the Viking staff was wonderful and each day had the itineraries well organized. The food was good, and there were plenty of options.

First River Cruise — exceeded expectations

Last day Black Forest included excursion was a MAJOR disappointment

Ship cleanliness was spectacular. Service and food was over the top. Tour guides, with the exception of the Black Forest tour, were informative. Tours, with the exception of the Black florist fiasco were packed with interesting sites. At times, the walking was a bit much but for the most part the pace was reasonable. We had one of the few two room suites on the ship and it was very, very nice. The public areas on the ship were spacious and well appointed. Extended stays before and after the cruise we’re most satisfying.
