Located in a privileged site, the Explora lodge offers you an intimate and private atmosphere in this sector of Patagonia. Here you will be able to disconnect and tour the different hills and valleys. The lodge is part of a self sustainable project, so its building materials were stones from local quarries, recycled wood, and copper for the roofs. Built by the Tompkins Conservations, our lodge is situated in the Explora Parque Nacional Patagonia. It was designed to reduce as much as possible the interference with the natural environment and based on structures from iconic national parks worldwide and traditional Patagonian estancias. Today this area is a hub for ongoing conservation and sustainability projects.

The menu, designed by Pablo Jesús Rivero – owner of the restaurant “Don Julio”, chosen the fourteenth – best restaurant in Latin America according to the ranking The World’s Best Restaurants 2022 – and Guido Tassi, consulting chef at Don Julio uses fresh local products in which the Gaucho culture of open wood fire barbecues combining different types of meat and vegetables stands out.

In addition, the cuisine is characterized by using seasonal products from the same region, which are distributed by small suppliers like the 4 Estaciones farm. This creates a connection with the environment through a proposition that seeks to explore the territory through its ingredients, flavors, and traditions.

The menu offers a selection of main dishes, dessert, and a drinks menu (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

Directions

Transfer in/out is included in our all-inclusive rate. From Balmaceda, drive south approximately 6 hours on the Carretera Austral/ Ruta 7 until Puerto Valle Chacabuco.

From Cochrane, drive Carretera Austral/Ruta 7 direction East for 10 miles turn right on X-83 for 7 miles until you see sign for Valle Chacabuc and Explora Patagonia National Park lodge.
