MEIJI JINGU (SHRINE)

The famous Meiji Jingu shrine should be included in the itinerary of every visitor to Tokyo. The shrine was constructed in 1920 and is dedicated to the memory of the Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. The vast grounds feature approximately 100,000 trees which grow over 700,000-square meters of land and were donated and planted from all over Japan at Jingu Oza. The forest is a popular place for relaxation and this shrine has the most visitors in Japan every year for Hatsumode (first Shinto shrine visit of the year).
