Eagle Island Lodge is the ultimate Okavango Delta experience-focused safari lodge.

Eagle Island Lodge is one of Botswana's original safari lodges, perched on a private island encircled by some of the deepest stretches of the Okavango Delta, one of the world's largest inland water systems and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lodge is decorated to reflect an explorer's base. Design highlights in the twelve spacious deluxe tented rooms include oversized beds with views of the delta, large outdoor decks with a vista, private plunge pools, luxurious bathrooms with large tubs, indoor & outdoor showers, a relaxation and reading nook, and walk-in wardrobes.

The public areas include a stylish dining area with a pizza oven, a lounge area with an artisan-style bar, a library, a separate campfire area and the Fish Eagle Bar which is located directly on the water. The lodge offers a variety of water-focused safari activities including motorboat safaris, barge cruises, mekoro safaris (a local canoe), fishing, as well as walking safaris and the ultimate air safari experience by helicopter – a highlight of any guests' stay!

There is an abundance of bird and aquatic wildlife around the lodge, complemented by larger mammals such as elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, as well as the ever elusive big cats that have made this island their home.

Accommodation at Eagle Island Lodge is everything you would expect of a luxury safari experience.

All tented rooms are housed on raised wooden platforms shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. Complete with a rim flow plunge pool, large private decks furnished with easy chairs. Each room features a walled outdoor shower with a window looking onto the Delta, as well as a large bathtub and walk-in wardrobe, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster bed complete with mosquito netting, as well as a discreet air conditioning.

For your convenience, in-room safes are provided for the safekeeping of all cash, travel documents and other such articles.

The restaurant offers something for everyone all day and will also be glad to prepare picnics for you to take on a game drive. Game drives often start early. You will be woken with a light breakfast to enjoy in your tent before setting off on your drive. On your return the restaurant will be open for a light brunch to satisfy you until the next adventure begins...

There is no better place to experience the sunset over the Okavango Delta than from the Fish-Eagle Bar. Open-air and covered bar and lounge areas with a dedicated viewing deck provide the best of both worlds - a complete view of the Delta coupled with the cool relaxation of this safari hideaway. The camp fire provides the perfect place to settle after a day full of adventure. Share your experiences over the camp fire or curl up and relax with a loved one, just the two of you and the wildlife.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge has its own private licensed airstrip, coordinates 19 32 43.83 S – 23 02 55.58 E. The best way to Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is via Maun which is accessible by scheduled, daily flights from Johannesburg.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is also accessible from Livingstone, Zambia and Kasane, Northern Botswana. Access from Maun, Livingstone and Kasane is all by shared charter aircraft operated by our air partner, Mack Air.
