Helicopter Flight to Milford Sound

A perfect way to see the majestic New Zealand scenery is by air.

An excellent 2.5 hour trip to consider is the ‘Milford Extended’ with Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters (GSL). They will pick you up from Azur and take you to the airport to start your flight, from there you fly to Milford Sound stopping on a glacier half way as well as an isolated west coast beach for photos before landing in Milford for a 30 minute break, then flying back via a different route.

The views on this trip are unbeatable and it’s only a short trip so you will still have most of the afternoon free. Alternatively, if you wanted to spend a little longer in Milford Sound you could opt for the half day fly/cruise/fly option which has a shorter flight but also includes a 2 hour cruise around the Milford Sound. These trips are very weather dependent so we would recommend booking this on your first full day in Queenstown, that way we can rearrange your itinerary depending on the weather conditions. Bespoke trips can also be arranged.

Azur comprises of one main lodge building, which is a communal area, and nine free-standing guest villas.

Meet the Azur team in the main lodge building and then be shown to your own private luxury villa, one of nine identical villas, that cascade down the hillside to optimise the privacy and the views.

The floor to ceiling windows frame the incredible views from all areas of the villa. Each villa is a spacious 800sqft. The open plan living enables guests to enjoy the space in comfort, with plenty of space to unpack and make yourself feel at home.

The bed is a sumptuous Californian King made up with luxurious cotton linens. Four of the villas can be converted to twin beds upon request. An extra single bed is able to be added into the lounge area for triple occupancy, at an extra cost.

Relax in the lounge area beside the gas fireplace with a book, or enjoy our entertainment system including smart TV features, many cable TV channels and the music system. Enjoy refreshments and snacks from our mini bar items.

For those who wish to dine in the privacy of their own villa, a table set into the bay window creates a intimate private experience. Breakfast can be delivered to the villa from our kitchen and if you wish dine in for your evening meal, we can arrange an in-villa dining experience upon request, at an extra cost.

With a spa bath set into the picture window with fabulous bi-folding French windows, the bathroom makes for the ultimate bathing pleasure with unobstructed views! Each ensuite also features dual vanities, rain forest shower & a separate WC. For the ultimate in comfort the floor tiles are heated to keep your feet toasty & warm! The bathrooms are complemented with luxurious bath linen and New Zealand made bathroom amenities.

The private outdoor deck provides a relaxing space to enjoy the expansive views, a perfect place to start your day on a beautiful morning enjoying breakfast.

At Azur, we do not believe in rules, so let us know when you would like your meal and we will accommodate - anytime suits us. - from 6:30am to 10:00pm.

Pre-dinner drinks & canapes, afternoon tea and breakfast are served daily either in the main lodge or in the privacy of the guest villa, and are included in all rates. Although Azur does not have a lunch/dinner restaurant, being so close to downtown, and offering complimentary transfers, guests can enjoy the fantastic local dining scene, our team will help with recommendations. Alternatively, for those who wish to stay in for the evening, an in-villa dining experience can be arranged.

In Villa Service Hours of Operation:
- We do not believe in 'rules' - our team is available to help between 6:30am and 10pm - if breakfast is preferred at 1:00pm - no problem..

Directions

From Queenstown Airport:

At the exit of the airport you will turn right at the first roundabout, in about another 20 meters you will come to another roundabout where you are directly facing the Lake. Turn right at the intersection this will put you onto Kawarau Road.
Follow Kawarau Road a few hundred meters to it’s conclusion at the roundabout, and turn Left into Frankton Road.
Follow Frankton Road (approx 6.5 kilometers) into the Queenstown town center.
Frankton Road becomes Stanley Street, follow Stanley Street down the hill into downtown Queenstown, you will go straight through the first roundabout you come to & then and turn Left at the 2nd roundabout into Shotover Street.
Follow Shotover Street through 2 roundabouts and around a left-right bend into Lake Esplanade.
Follow Lake Esplanade to it’s conclusion, you will come to another around about, turn right at this roundabout heading up the hill in front of you.
Keep heading up the hill, at the top plateaux of the hill you will pass through the township of Fernhill/Sunshine Bay, you will pass a small corner store on your left.
As you start to go down the other side of Fernhill on your left you will come to a street called MacKinnon Terrace, turn left into this street.
MacKinnon Terrace is the street where Azur is located, please do not be concerned by the residential street, at the end of this street you will come to the Azur driveway, all the land past this driveway is owned by Azur, so you will feel like you are in the middle of a completely private oasis, with uninterrupted lake & mountain views, yet only 4 minutes drive from downtown.
Azur Lodge is located at no. 23, at the end of MacKinnon Terrace. You will see two stone pillars & a brown gate. On the right hand side is an intercom on a pole. Please use the “press here” button to call reception. Once you identify yourself we will buzz you in and open the gate.
Follow the asphalt driveway to the Lodge & the car park.
Head into the main Lodge building to reception where you will be met by one of the team from Azur, they will show you around the property and have your luggage delivered to your villa.
During your orientation tour of Azur we will give you the code to the security gate so you are able to let yourself in and out during your stay.
